Phew
So is everyone enjoying this lovely weather, I am. By the time I go on holiday I should be well tanned and will have to worry less about sunburn, I'll be smothered in factor 30 none the less. Spent a lovely time on the A3 this morning, was only about an hour late for work and I was leaving early to go to the boys end of school concert. Still enjoying the freedom of wireless, but I am having some issues with the signal splitters you plug in so that you can use the broadband without disruppting the phone line. I think I've had three now that haven't worked, the last one resulted in the phone being out of action for a month before I realised what the fault was. This was after BT had completed all their external checks 3 times. (Thanks BT). Anyone else having the same problem ? A very sweaty Funman

In the garden.....
....on a sunny summers Sunday afternoon. That's where I am today, soaking up the rays, drinking the odd beer, reading the papers, lovely. Not long till the Italian holiday, bought myself one of those beach tents today, £7.00 from Tesco's. It will be handy for the boy, keep him shaded and also somewhere to stash all the bits and bobs we take with us. This will be the first year that we don't take the buggy which we usually use to transport all the beach paraphonalia so will have to think of other options. We will probably have the kids surf board , snorkelmaskflippers, bucket and accompanying spades/tools, footballs, bat'n'balls, inflatable something, towels, cameras, food and ourselves (I've probably forgotten something). It's ok going it's the coming back at the end of the day bodies all salty and sandy, roasted by the sun, mouths dry and the 4 o'clock sun beating down overhead. Why 4 o'clock, well we like to get back a nd spend a couple of hours by the pool, its very refreshing, and it's usully a bit quieter then. Oooh I cannot wait roll on the 15th August. I can hear the neighbours now, eating "al fresco" with their families, a plane flies far overhead. Well I'm off for a quick paddle. Cheerio Funman

Why....
.. is it that anyone touched with genius sts out to destroy it. yesterday it was announced that Syd Barrett had died at the age of sixty but the truth is he really died 30 years ago driven to breakdowns through he excesses of fame. He is not the first and he will not be the last but why. What is it that drives these talented, gifted, fortunate few to suddenly implode upon themselves racked with torment, unable to control their urges, soon to self destruct. The truth is we will never know, we shouldn't know, because if we did we would try to control it and by controlling it we would destroy it. No more Syds, Jimi's, Gram's or Richie's. All we can do is appreciate their brilliance and thank them for making our lives all that more enjoyable. So shine on all you crazy diamonds. You wiil always light up our lives. Funman |

Still Around
You know, it's quite strange not having the time to access 20six as much as I used to. Over the time that I have been blogging I have got to know so many different people, not in person of course but probably even more personally than knowing them in the flesh. There is such a wide variety of characters out there, the jokers, the politicians, the wonderful story tellers, those that just seem to have a knack of turning an everyday occurence into a moment of magic, the list goes on and on. I came across 20six whilst googling for places that I had lived and stumbled across NewMalden. This was somewhere that I had grown up and returned to later in my life. From here I skipped through the favorites list and made many new discoveries. I have also had lots of help along the way with some of the more technical aspects so thankyou to all of you for that no doubt I shall be calling on you again. Well thats me for this evening I going to have a nice cup of tea then off to my bed. |

Must stop complaining
Every now and then you have to sit ack and take account of yourself. Sometimes it feels like I do nothing allday but moan but really my life is pretty good. I have a good job with a good salary, I have a wonderful partner and wonderful children, I have holidays abroad, the only loan I have is my mortgage, the only debt on my credit card are company expenses which I pay off as soon as I am reimbursed, I like my car it's a few years old and as done 130000 miles but it is still going strong (VW Passatt) and I am generally pretty happy. Its also been 20 months since I gave up smoking, an achievement I am very proud of because the early days were such a struggle. So I am going to make more of an effort to stop complaining and just get on with life. Is everyone settling in Ok with the new format. It's taken me a few days and there are still one or two things I'd like to learn like how do you make a link in your faves open on a new page but apart from that I am getting used to it. Well I'd better get back to work now catch you all later. Funman

Tuesday Morning
I am not having much chance to browse around 20six at the moment so apologies for being slack in my commenting. Work is very busy, which is good, although the journey can be a bit long at times. I am now based in Windsor, lovely you think, but we are nowhere near the town centre so pretty much spend all day in the office. The girls are coming down this weekend so I am hoping for some nice weather so that we can have a barbecue with all the family round. Only 11 weeks until my holiday, two weeks in Italy. I have probably mentioned this before but for the sake of being boring we are going to a lovely looking place called Capo Vaticano which is in the Calabria region riight on top of the foot. I have wanted to go to Italy for a long while, I think the last time I went was when I was about 11. Saving really hard because I am told that it is pretty pricey and I don't want to have to be budgeting throughout the holiday. Well best get back to work back soon Funman |
